amsel is german for blackbird
it’s an animal, one of my favorite songs by the Beatles, a name
it’s all three of them within a single person, and it started out as a bunch of childhood memories of drawing and building things, tiny things, with my dad
then it became a bridge, a way to relive those memories after losing him
and it grew, we grew, and now, we fly

i am a lot of things
and art is at the core of every single one of them
everything i’ve ever made is a direct reflection of my adventures growing up,
and my mind is in constant storytelling mode whether I’m illustrating, doing ceramics or taking care of the boring business bits
(my spreadsheets are actually amazing, hehe)
after spending the entirety of my 20s and a touch of my 30s in the film industry, where i was primarily a prop master and maker who truly loved diving into a character’s world, I'm now making my own art full-time
(with a little pinch of academia thrown in there cause I’m also a bit of a nerd who missed doing research and writing papers)
i want my art to tell a story
